Weber and Durkheim are fantastic philosophers and sociologists. It's a shame sociology was lost to the ch*cago c*mtean p*sitivists.

In Weber's work he often refers to an "ideal type" and its probability of being true. I couldn't understand what he meant by this, and my researching around the web hasn't helped me much. Can anyone here explain it to me in a way an idiot could understand?

Thanks for this. Why do you know so much about Weber? Are you a sociologist or a German historian?

Read 'Science as Vocation' by my man Weber, it is still relevant today (he also says that scientism is for overgrown children).
