Sorry for the long post

Death is so scary and I am thinking of it more and more frequently. This always happens when I take my regular extended breaks from smoking weed.
Why, if I feel like this, do I spend so many days pretending not to be alive? Engrossing myself in books or games to the point where I am barely conscious of my surroundings, do you view this behaviour as equal to death? Why do I love sleep so much?
Feel free to recommend philosophers or literature that deal with this topic. Usually when I ask for help I get low effort responses but I am interested to hear anons' opinions about the questions above.
