Damn, the last thread lost. I'll restate my view that Tom (AKA Man of History) represents the ideal of authenticity and stands in contrast to Eddington, who experiences similar events but is simply being manipulated by The Regime to become their new dissident catcher. He most succinctly encapsulates Waldun's oft repeated views on the dichotomy of rote school learning and true passionate autodidacticism.
