What was the last interruption you got while writing? I saw large roach run into the room and try to get under my bookshelf and I grabbed the closest metal object and beat it to death. Need to spray around the house now.

Just got K-anon and Woolston's short stories in the mail, will let you know in next thread or so what I think of them this weekend.

First books are almost always bad anyways, and you can still write a story even if the themes don't have beget something you're entirely sure of or even wholly original. A lot of the originality comes from the voice of the author and what that synthesizes. You need to learn about literary techniques and all the other things that go into writing like structure, pacing and all the rest.
Also, as you think through your story symbols themes and ask what would happen, you will discover a lot. Not everything has to be the deepest thing ever, and no one ought to expect it from someone in their 30s. You can still write something satisfying to read.
