I understand Shakespeare and I do see his value, however he never really resonated with me. I suspect that is however, because it is a play of more old fashioned kind with less "read-value" and more heard. For the exterior movement of the drama is the only thing which connects all three principles of individual and self-governing genius: plot, script, and wit. A disconnect there one may say when read. He is unlike Homer where in the simplicity of all parts 'cept where in plot, -- the centre story to be told than work of art to be made -- allows one naturally to hear the speak regardless of its exterior presence. It also may be said the only recent discovering that Shakespeare was meant to be pronounced and spoken vastly different than it is today, almost certainly has resulted as one of the chief factors for the afore mentioned problems.

Does it raise him back to the heights of the poet of his age as was Homer for his? Possibly, I do not know but necessarily all concerns for when reading Shakespeare.
