Why did this suddenly became about flexing how many languages you can write in? Most people here seem to be A2 in Italian and Spanish at most. The German level is even lower. Not something to be proud of, Anons :S

Not that anon, but the thing with his writing is that he uses a lot of Argentinian slang, which evolved from Italian slang. I noticed he also writes all words phonetically, even those that are of English origin("sweater" as "suéter", "hall" as "jol", etc). This gives his books a careless and harsh feel, which go hand in hand with the themes he presents. Not to mention that he is fond of bad words and insults, and relies heavily on naming streets and famous places from Buenos Aires. Translating these things is hard, and most of the beauty and feel they bring is lost when doing so.

Honestly the only reason I've never read Anne Frank's Diary was because she's kinda my type (dark hair, eyes etc) and I didn't want to fantasize about a dead girl every day
