I've seen a couple manga with that premise. Spoilers because not /lit/ Tearmoon Empire is about a Marie Antoinette that after the guillotine goes back to her youth and tries to do things right, except that she never actually learned how to do anything right. Her minimal good intentions were actually all she had to do, not be a little shit, but she isn't aware of it so she keeps worrying and overcorrecting in the wrong direction. And The Story of Lord, Devastated Manor Who Grows by Misunderstanding. An OP healer tries to make his shitty territory work, everyone accidentally use him to make a revolution while he thinks he's becoming a good and friendly nobleman. We later see that his dad was suicidally depressive and his mom was borderline brain dead.
In both cases a solid element is the narrators being brutal with the MCs.
