Unless I missed something this thread is like 95%+ anti-trans recommendations and arguments. It's fair to have that, but OP, don't only accept a single, one-sided perspective, especially when it goes against the professional consensus.

However, I really can't recommend any books on it, because despite being in my 5th or 6th year of transition I have yet to find a good one. Transgenderism has - as this thread has pointed out - been so relentlessly politicized it is almost impossible to find a take on it that isn't about some political agenda.

But, transgenderism has appeared prior to modern progressive politics, and if you go on /lgbt/ you'll find plenty of right wing trans people. Sure, they're an extremely small minority, but if even one exists then we have to accept that transgenderism and leftism are not inherently linked. Consider also transgenderism in Iran - most of them are right wing Islamist autocrats.

Your best bet is to read up to date research on the neurobiology of trans people, while recognizing that research is in its infancy. Anything else is going to be a thinly veiled social argument that can't experience reality independent of a political faction label.
