What are the most /lit/ passages from the Bible? Verses that beautiful imagery or or excellent sonic character. Any translation is okay, but I expect KJV most common. I'll start:

Isaiah 40:6-8
The voice said, Cry
And he said, What shall I cry?
All flesh is grass,
and all the goodliness thereof is as the flower of the field:
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth:
because the spirit of the Lord bloweth upon :
surely the people is grass.
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth:
but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

For starters, the line starting "And all the goodliness thereof" is actually iambic octometer. And the repetition of "the grass withereth, the flower fadeth" sets you up to expect a similar thing as the previous line, about the temporary nature of life. But instead, your expectation is subverted, and the verse triumphantly concludes with a declaration that God is not temporary, but eternal.

Does anyone know any resources for learning Biblical Hebrew? I am looking for something very introductory.

2 Lord, when thou dost reprove me, let it not be in anger; when thou dost chastise me, let it not be in displeasure.
3 Lord, pity me; I have no strength left; Lord, heal me; my limbs tremble;
4 my spirits are altogether broken; Lord, wilt thou never be content?
5 Lord, turn back, and grant a wretched soul relief; as thou art ever merciful, save me.
6 When death comes, there is no more remembering thee; none can praise thee in the tomb.
7 I am spent with sighing; every night I lie weeping on my bed, till the tears drench my pillow.
8 Grief has dimmed my eyes, faded their lustre now, so many are the adversaries that surround me.
9 Depart from me, all you that traffic in iniquity; the Lord has heard my cry of distress.
10 Here was a prayer divinely heard, a boon divinely granted.
11 All my enemies will be abashed and terrified; taken aback, all in a moment, and put to shame.

Psalm 6

If your profit from doing it, yes. If you are watching/reading for your own enjoyment rather than self edification then essentially yes. I'm no sage though. Go ask someone you consider wise.

Remember, your not here to pleasure your ego or body.

>Within the body also resides the Supreme Lord. He is said to be the Witness, the Permitter, the Supporter, Transcendental Enjoyer, the ultimate Controller, and the Paramātmā (Supreme Soul). BG 13.23.

I think most will agree, even Christians (especially Catholics and Orthodox), that the wisdom that is to find in the Bible appears more clearly when reading commentaries and theological works that came after it. That doesn't necessarily mean that there is less wisdom in the Bible, it just appears and becomes more clear after lots of interpretation.

The wisdom in Plato, on the other hand, is clearer and pretty accessible from the first read. That is not to say that you won't find more wisdom after interpreting, because you certainly do (looking at Plotinus, Gnostics, and even Christians themselves).

If you were to analyze each work just by themselves, reading nothing else like commentaries and such, Plato is clearly the one with more wisdom.

OP here, "are you mentally culled not to percieve the tone" in every other post I've written where I sincerely appreciate an actual answer?
