I'd be moderately interested. I have ideas for sci-fi short stories although some of them might be too mainstream/contemporary for a lot of /lit/ users preferences. What do you think of picrel recs?

How about we interact with this chart that was posted recently and with short stories in general.

How many of these have you read?
What did you think of them?
Would you pick different stories for some authors?
Who goes in slot 00 as a serious choice?

Here are some thoughts of mine for starters:
* Chekhov - a master of course; no way to pick just one
* Aldiss - underwhelming story (inb4 >genre)
* Wallace - not credited enough for what he did with the form; I'd've gone with 'G.O.N.' or maybe 'Mr. Squishy'
* Dostoyevsky - some underappreciated stories; I'd pick 'The Dream of a Ridiculous Man'
* Marquez - great story
* Saunders - 'Spider Head' is amazing
* Melville - 'Bartleby' is fascinating especially given how old it is
* Asimov - again don't even >genre
* Joyce - 'Araby' might be my choice over 'The Dead' too (which may be too obvious)
* Cheever - maybe 'The Swimmer' is too obvious too
* Borges - another monument; impossible to choose just one
* Vonnegut - 'Bergeron' is great and ambiguous as to how much to take it at face value
* Card - a minor adjustment to the chart would make him have to sit next to Wilde
* LeGuin - 'Omelas' is excellent
