I have no idea about you or your life situation but from my experience it all comes down to your role in society and metaphysical beliefs (for men).
The best advice one can get is not "clean your room" but "find your house". Once you find a society with a common higher goal and are able to be a functioning part of it - all your psychological problems seem to fade away.
It may sound too obvious but a genuine christian community is a perfect environment for this.
