Are they? I think it may be the opposite. People here like cold, dirty truth. The thing is that they never do anything with it.

This may be weird and rude question but I will ask: Why are you gay? What is it in men that attracts you to them? If it's not about sex then are you sure that it's romantic attraction that cannot be replaced by brotherly love or deep friendship? I'm just curious about it.

That what I'm trying to say though. Catholics post short, typical responses. Protestants write paragraph and half with reddit spacing. And I really doubt the second part since as you said their posts are short and excluding few who actively engaged I assume this is all they posted in this thread. I may be wrong here but I don't think I am.

>How does it feel to have your art be interpreted amongst the plebeians like archaeologists do when they find a tool buried somewhere?
Even though i would in no way consider myself an artist, i think it's a failure on the artists part if what an image represents isn't clear. I guess all the shitty meme edits i've done over the years has taught me is that it isn't just about drawing skill, but composition too; even if i was a decent drawer, i don't think i could have possibly made Rousseau recognizable from behind. But ultimately i'm just happy people are enjoying it, even if it isn't completely clear—it's hard to tell what OC you make will take off and which you will never see reposted, so it brings a smile to my face to see other anons using it from time to time.

Hey /lit/, i realized recently that my knowledge of world religions is sorely lacking, so i'm interested in coming up with a reading list which would at least give me a fairly solid understanding of the core principles of all major religions. Given that i've read the Bible i'd say i'm solid on Christianity and partially Judaism, so what i'm thinking is:
Hinduism
>The Upanishads
>An abridged version of the Mahabharata
>The Bhagavad Gita (yes, i know it is in the Mahabharata, but i want a more scholarly translation)
Buddhism
>The Dhammapada
>In the Buddha's Words: Selections from the Pali Canon
>A Treasury of Mahayana Sutras
>The Tibetan Book of the Dead
Islam
>The Quran
>The Book of Hadith : Sayings of the Prophet Muhammad from the Mishkat Al Masabih (just a selection, not the whole hadith)
Judaism
>The Everyman's Talmud (again, just a selection)
Esoteric and Mystic shit:
>The Secret Teachings of all Ages.
Whadd'ya think? That covers all the major texts of all the major religions (as far as i know) at least partially, so i think it should give me a pretty solid foundation in world religions. is there anything i'm missing? anything that i should drop or replace? I understand that religion is a topic that people care deeply about, but could you please do your best to assume an impartial position rather than debating which is the correct religion/school/interpretation and rather present works representative of all positions? Thanks!

It mostly comes from the section where Plato says that there is no reason to deny women the ability to become guardians just like men. Even though the rejoinder to this is Plato saying women really are are inferior, but that fact isn't a justified reason to deny them a position. There are also dialogues where Socrates states that a women taught him a particular piece of wisdom (i think this happens twice(?) but the only one i remember specifically is in Symposium), which is taken to be evidence that Plato thought women could be on par and even wiser than men. Of course, the statement "Plato is a feminist" is usually paired with a big asterisk saying "compared to all his contemporaries", more specifically, compared to Aristotle.
