Whatever you want to....? Whatever will make it more readable, as the cetology chapters are notorious. Despite Mastodon't best efforts to convince you otherwise, Moby-Dick isn't action packed. It's mostly just a bunch of guys chilling out on a boat.
The prose is a good starting point. You may want to read things that are similar and shorter to get some context.
Then there are the themes of life&death, obsession, fate, limits of human understanding, etc., etc...
