What different philosophies of art exist? I would like to familiarise myself with all of them. I know I have beliefs about art based on my feelings towards different works but it's not something I can verbalise just yet. Some people say art has no rules or inherent definition because someone taped a banana to a wall and that's art, but this strongly irritates me and my intuition says it's incorrect.

Recommendations for books that explore the philosophy of art are welcome but I am more-so looking for brief summaries of philosophies that I can further look into should they resonate with me.
