Because I believe in the literal Resurrection of Jesus.

Don't be a materialist, OP, it's boring. The world is strange and mystical and charged with the Power of God.

You'll like them, Jesus is actually a lot more interesting than the caricature people make of Him when they try to push a social or a political agenda, on both the left and the right.

It's kind of funny that Mark is sometimes used by atheists to say that Jesus-as-God was a later innovation, and that Mark, as the earliest Gospel (they say), contains no mention of Jesus claiming to be God. It certainly doesn't have John's "the Father and I are one."

And yet Mark Chapter 2 has this passage:

>One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and as his disciples walked along, they began to pick some heads of grain. The Pharisees said to him, “Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?”

>He answered, “Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need? In the days of Abiathar the high priest, he entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread, which is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions.”

>Then he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”

Modern people who aren't familiar with Judaism will miss the significance of this. The Sabbath is God's day. That's why the Jews celebrate it and do no work upon it. It was the day specifically set aside as belonging to God and the honor and worship of God, since it was the day God rested as per Genesis.

So to claim to be "Lord of the Sabbath" is to claim to be God. Mark, too, claims that Jesus is God.

Christianity is distinct from Judaism and I'm tired of pagans, atheists, and Jews trying to pretend it isn't.

Or, put another way: I'm tired of trying to pretend that most subversive Jewish behavior isn't driven by a hatred of Christianity and Christians, and then pagans and atheists somehow being oblivious to this and trying to paint Christianity and Judaism with the same brush.

Ultimately the average Jew hates Jesus and hates the followers of Jesus. This is all self-loathing and internal misery projected outwards, by the way. Why wouldn't it be? Jesus is literally their Messiah. He came to save them, to fulfill their prophecies, to be what they had spent millennia waiting for. And they betrayed him and fucking killed him. Can you imagine the SEETHE that flows from that, over two thousand years? It explains so much of how Jews behave. Two thousand years of having turned your back on your own people's Anointed One, and knowing it, deep down, but being too proud and spiteful to ever acknowledge it. So you take your own internalized self-loathing out on your Messiah and those who profess to follow him. Miserable.

I've never understood the "death cult" accusation, given that Jesus Himself didn't stay dead after they killed Him.

It's an old accusation, too, it's been around since the days of the Romans. Christians get hit with it again and again, and it feels like a fundamental misunderstanding of the religion, to me.
