I have a very peculiar interpretation about this book, specially the last scene. I always took the Judge as a presence of the unnatural, a being that although is visible and tangible, is just a part of a collective, and not the only one.
The Judge we follow with Glanton's gang is found in mysterious circunstances, and have been seen before by all the members of the gang individually in separate ocasions before. The raping of children is him feeding on innocence, as is killing the dogs and so on. His goal, destroying history while taking notations and retaining vast knowledge about languages and chemistry is him building a museum of mankind, the very thing he wants to replace with himself. His innevitability, the song about immortality and the end of the kid, now called the Man is not a rape, but an embrace of mankind to this new being, scaring the men who entered the bathroom is what once was the Man, but is now another being, inhuman, immortal, naked and hairless, pure.
