Read the Secret Teachings of All Ages by Manly P. Hall to understand their beliefs a bit more. He was a Master Mason. Also read his book "The Lost Keys of Freemasonry".

I can also recommend Albert Pike's "Morals and Dogma of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry". Pike was also a Master Mason.

Personally I would recommend understanding Western esoteric philosophy and especially gnosticism if you're interested in Freemasons and other secret societies, because once you understand their foundational ideologies everything becomes clear regarding their goals, history, and current endeavours. This knowledge is especially useful today, and you would be surprised how many seemingly unrelated things in politics and world events are in fact connected and decipherable if only you understand occult symbolism.
