The ground is barren and hot asphalt. The sky is a burning ocean. Sweat runs down a child's forehead. Breaking the horizon are towering buildings erect and sprawling large cuboid structures with glass windows evenly rowed and collumned. He’s sitting on some steps waiting for someone. It’s perfect noon. The sun, directly above, is like a burning halo above this child’s head.
Here comes the boy’s father. He’s strung, tall and thin, measuring six foot six with dark hair. The boy is by no means short but the father towers over. The father looks at his son on the steps. He looks up the steps to the door in the wall of a brick building sitting squat among the surrounding towers.
一 Now did he walk out of there?
一 Not that I saw.
一 What do you mean ‘not that I saw’ you were watching weren’t you?
一 Yes sir.
一 Then has that son of a bitch left yet?
一 No sir.
The sun now shifts a few degrees westward. There’s now a trailing shadow behind the father as he climbs up those stairs towards that door. Now I want you to sit tight; he says firmly. There are three knocks on the door. One, two, three. Like sharp barks of a dog. Like barks of a dog in the night. Moment before a fourth lands the door opens, the deadbolt is latched. The chain stretches the gap. What do you want; growls sound from inside, a fleshy hand grips the door. Two eyes gaze out from the door and when they mark the father they widen and the fear rushes behind his eyelids and they dart from here to there all in an instant. Before the fleshy hand can slam the door shut, the father does so, closing that door on the man’s fingers. A wounded shriek cries out from the dark interior. Now the father rips the door towards him. The chain of the deadbolt is pulled out of the rotten wood door and now the father is inside. The child sits on the steps, sweat still wets his forehead. A small drop runs down his face into his eyes and it burns and it releases a small sob forth from the two young eyes but he looks on at the tiny shadows cast by the noon sun. Father is coming out now. He fans a wad of green bills in his hand. The man inside moans and makes vocalizations that are attempts at words but fail all signs of mutual intelligibility. The rough english of violence cries from that room in the wall at the top of the steps with the now broken door. Alright let’s go; says the father. The child and he wipe the sweat from their brow. They are walking now. In the midst of that hot asphalt broken by shimmering skyscrapers crashing against the horizon.

I think videogames could be really good when teamed up with literature.
Let's say,Jolly John Johnson decides to play a game.A game which has a post-post-apocaliptic theme.
After his finishes the game,Jolly John Johnson might get interested in other forms of media that tackles the same theme with similar characteristics.
This is how you get from "Fallout" to "A hero with a thousand faces" or "A canticle for Leibowitz".
