hi /lit/, i'm an obsessive autist who wants to get really into reading philosophy and literature.

i have a strong background in greek/roman classics (took attic greek and latin in high school and ended up reading a lot of Homer, Plato, Virgil, Caesar, etc. in their original languages) so i plan to skip the standard and reasonable advice of starting with the greeks. my problem is I don't have much of an idea of where to go next to build on that foundation.

what are some relatively accessible works of philosophy / literature in the next tier that I can dig into?

just read pic related in the past few days, found it enjoyable and interesting. I have the Stranger and Notes from Underground on the way which I am excited to read as well. thanks for any recommendations

Hey, /lit/. So I'm thinking of picking this up soon but I was just wondering if I'm going to have to have read anything else before this to really understand what's Camus is talking about, or if I can just jump right in.

Hey /lit/, is this book a good place to start with Camus? What should I read after this? If not, where should I start?

The thing is, my family has underwent great suffering through many arguments yet their political ideals, attitude and desires has never once been changed over the years. Expectations fueled by society has regurgitated its norms back onto us again through many interactions and short-term satisfaction such as egoistic stature and so on.

As an escape away from all this, i decided to find a way to get out, starting a blog and whatever. Perfectionism. It's what it is. This word can be the definition to procrastination as well as the answer to what made many people choose the path to relieving themselves from the huge burden the world has put on us.

Everything we see on the internet and feats, education, levels of standards.

Expectations is a dangerous thing

With expectations, a price is paid. With expectations, happiness and joy is experienced ONLY when the requirements of the criteria is fulfilled.

I lived in a society where the standard of living is much too high. The environment itself influences our perceptions from a very young age and through this, long term effects are built into us. The bar of expectation possessed by the 'new to the world child' has been surpassed far too many times. As a result, the pole is raised higher and higher, eternally.

We always hear stories of individuals inventing, with talent, and discovering the foundational building blocks of today's governing power and knowledge. These inventions are conclusions and results of what initially were kindled by sincere curiosity and passion. Their intention led them through the method along with their intuition and wisdom. However, they all started at the bottom. Something that is unsolved.

However, in the present, we are not even able to obtain the correct intention. The invention of the web undertook the procedure of ruining all lives after its appearance. The ideas that exist in our world now, only seek what substitutes our experiential a pirori methods with desirable but diminishing consequences to the 'Enlightenment of the Mind'. The concept of finding meaning in one's life has become the dominant moral idea, whether it be individualism or hedonism. These personalities are further enhanced by the technological versatility and abilities. Not only are they intensified, they are injected, and to the extreme, brainwashing our whole population. Media and entertainment is a safe guard to those who have access to it. Veil after veil, the whole world is slowly losing sight of what is underneath.

This is the foundation. Expectations are then built upon this. Those who realise the truth, struggle against the conformity of the industrialised world. New complications are established. Sides are taken. Demand of the society decides young teens inclination. They decide your value as an individual.
