Why is it that the crowd mocks the Jehovah's Witness and the Lutherans behind their back? Are they seen as illegitimate as Scientology? Yet, there remains no censorship of Christianity as a whole and it's differing major divisions (previous mentions excluded). It seems that Christianity, which has arisen from Judaism, maintains the same relationship with that origin that Lutheranism holds to Christianity.

Perhaps it doesn't and the true analogy to which I'm referring exists between the Greek or any other Orthodox and the Christians; or the Catholics and the Christians, etc. In this case all is consistent and a relationship is the determinant to which esteem is given, where a radical birth is met with the originator's skepticism. Surely this exists at some level but it is not the whole explanation.

So what excludes the Lutherans and the Jehovah's from this esteem and places them at the bottom of the hierarchy? Does it exist within the word crowd? Surely an institution's esteem cannot be its soundness of story, or else those silly myths of Greek Gods would have never gained any traction, for they seem just as opposite to modern mythos as Scientology is, yet both have major followings.

It must be the number of followers. Any institution's legitimacy and esteem is derived from the size of its population, for it is that population that deems it's own legitimacy.
