>Since, however, it would be very tedious, in such a volume as this, to reckon up the successions of all the Churches, we do put to confusion all those who, in whatever manner, whether by an evil self-pleasing, by vainglory, or by blindness and perverse opinion, assemble in unauthorized meetings; [we do this, I say,] by indicating that tradition derived from the apostles, of the very great, the very ancient, and universally known Church founded and organized at Rome by the two most glorious apostles, Peter and Paul; as also [by pointing out] the faith preached to men, which comes down to our time by means of the successions of the bishops. For it is a matter of necessity that every Church should agree with this Church, on account of its preeminent authority [potiorem principalitatem].
Also from Against Heresies. Didn't really see anything else about equal bishops.

That is talking about metropolitan/archbishops. We have those too. Of course the Bishop of Alexandria is going to have jurisdiction in his region, just like how the Bishop of, for example, the Diocese of Atlanta, would have jurisdiction over the Atlanta region. Doesn't mean he's equal to the Bishop of Rome.
It does not say that the Bishop of Rome has no authority over Alexandria or Antioch. It says they may RETAIN their privileges of jurisdiction. And "since the like is customary for the Bishop of Rome" is not dividing the authority between the Bishop of Rome and other bishops. Its stating that the Bishop of Alexandria may continue having jurisdiction in those regions as the Bishop of Rome has been giving him the authority to do so.

Forget Orthodoxy, just become Catholic. If you read the Church Fathers (which you can do online, for example, at newadvent.org), then you will see that the Catholic Church is the true church.
You're just interested in Eastern Orthodox because you're a prot and you realize that apostolic tradition is correct but you still have your instilled anti-papist brainwashing so you go for the eastern churches instead.
>but muh pope is a cuck
No, he's not. Secular media twists his words (as they do with everyone else) and then internet LARPers trash him to feel better about their weak faith. Also, since you're a prot, the idea of papacy probably bothers you, but just read the Church Fathers like I said and you will see why the papacy is legitimate.
>but muh pedos
Its a problem caused by homosexuals that infiltrated seminaries during the Cold War and created a cycle of abuse in some secret homo groups within the church. It will get better though.
>but muh Vatican 2
Don't listen to anyone on the internet who talks about Vatican 2 unless its clergy because then they will actually not know anything about Vatican 2 and are just using it as a scapegoat for all the problems in the church right now. You can read the documents yourself if you're really interested, but its not really necessary.

So read the Church Fathers, Saint Augustine's Confessions, The Imitation of Christ, and have a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church (its not supposed to be read from cover to cover, but if you ever have a question about basic Catholic theology you can find it there).
St. Augustine's City of God and St. Thomas Aquinas' Summa Theologiae are both great too but they're huge and dense, not really something for someone just getting into the faith.
Also, don't bother reading Timothy "Kallistos" Ware. In fact, if you already have a copy of one of his books, just throw it into the garbage. He personally thinks gay marriage is okay, and also is okay with contraception (which the Orthodox churches in general are okay with). He's an idiot and a heretic.
Good luck and God bless.

>survived the commies
Because the eastern orthodox churches collaborated with the communist government. Soviet bloc countries still have atheist priests left over from the cold war.
>survived the liberals
What? when? You didn't survive anything, liberals don't care about your church because its irrelevant. There is barely any evangelization, and everyone in Eastern Europe is basically orthodox in name only, just like how everyone in Brazil and Mexico are Catholic in name only. Liberals have done nothing to your church because its not a problem to them.
>survived the Ottomans
You mean being under the rule of the Sultan for over 400 years? You guys were better off that way anyway, having one supreme authority kept you guys from schisming all over the place. If only you just submitted to one bishop who has supreme authority given to him by Christ...
>survive the internet
Oh yeah a bunch of larpers on /pol/ making historically and theologically inaccurate memes to attract westerners to join a heretical and schismatic church.

I'll be here in 50 years to see that The One True Church is still holding itself together under the Seat of Peter while you guys are getting into more schisms over stupid little politics.
