there are only two types of ebook threads on /lit/:

>why don't you have an ebook?
and
>my ebook is broken what do I do?

Oedipus' fatal flaw is his cowardice and passive-agressive nature.

What, you want me to reflect on every character in the play? Fuck you, man.

Oedipus wanted his legs to be un-crippled so he could participate in the Olympic games with Enkidu, that's why he said he longed for his name to be Benipus for eight fucking pages.

Did you even read the novel?

You have ten seconds to prove that Russel's Teapot doesn't exist.

Protip: You can't. Because Russel carefully imposed stipulations pertaining to the teapot's existence to ensure that rational and scientific inquiries always come up empty handed.

Self publishing isn't legitimate publishing. There's no quality control, and the market is flooded with crap.

Now whenever I'm about to buy a book I look at the publisher to make sure it wasn't self-published or put out by a vanity press. If I see something like Lulu then I disregard it without a moment's hesitation, and you should do the same.

Of course, you only have to check the publisher when you buy a book online. You'll never find a self-published book at a bookstore unless the author actually put it there himself.

Alright /lit/ let's make this quick
Last weekend I tried to impress my yuppie friends with my new apartment but they noticed I don't have anything in my book cabinet except for computer science and finance books. What books should I buy to impress them next time theyre over for a drink? I don't care much for reading but if some books are actually worth the time than that would be good too I guess. Thanks in advance

>But writers come here, and it's important to discuss philosophy, psychology, politics, so we all become better at it.

Why stop there? Let's talk about fashion, and video games, and ponies, and photography, and anime, and fitness, and movies. Because you never know when an Anon might want to write about those things.

[ERROR]

>In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth...

Uh... why not actually put something useful on the disk? Like how to rebuild society or how to avoid infections and create vaccinations? I think people in a dystopian future will appreciate it a lot more than a book of fairy tales.

The Bible is already the most widely printed and readily available book in the world since the creation of the printing press. Of all the books that might eventually be lost, the Bible is probably the least likely to be forgotten, due to the sheer number of them.

>>idiots are going to place blame on the girl's outfit for her rape --"Well, why were you wearing such a low-cut outfit? Weren't you kind of asking for it, showing cleavage like that?" etc. And if a girl was walking alone at night wearing jeans and a t-shirt, the blame is then on her for walking alone. And if she was walking with someone else, the blame is then on her for being out at all. And if she was in her home, the blame is on her for inviting the guy in, etc etc etc.

This is what women who barricaded themselves in feminist forums actually believe. Just keep projecting all your problems onto men.

>read Watchmen
>okay, this is pretty cool. Not "one of the best 100 novels of the century" good, but it is good.
>pick up a random Batman comic because I like Batman and the villain
>the dialog reads horribly (melodramatic, stilted, it reads like bad action movie/porno dialog)
>the storytelling is horrible (skips over important parts of the story in favor of exposition, kills off characters a page after they're introduced and I'm expected to care about their death, etc)
>the art isn't even that good
>there's a full page, full color "Back to School" advertisement in the middle of the fucking story with a grinning elementary school idiot triumphantly holding up a box of crayola markers (I wish I was making this part up)
>it tries very hard to be dark and mature by being overly violent and shocking-- instead it comes across as trying too hard

Never read a comic again.

I guess /lit/ is filled with a bunch of cancerous summer fags who don't know where the report button is.

the only people who want to be a teacher are women who like having authority over other people, but they're so stupid and bad at everything that the only people they're capable of having authority over are high school students, or elementary schoolers

Maybe you should try getting rid of the period at the end?

>what holds you from telling them yourself? is your rhetorical skill not as good as that of a tartlet?

I wrote it and uploaded it to deviant art. Posting a URL is preferable to copy/pasting fifteen pages of text every time some retard makes a Twilight thread.

>you take out dialogue in a book ABOUT TEENAGERS. Yeah, that makes sense.

>Hurray, you've compared Harry Potter to Twilight. Good job, you've reached the same level as the average troll on the internet.

>Revamp the magic system? What is this, a fucking MMORPG?

What am I supposed to argue against? You didn't even make a point.
