Hey /lit/, I'm sure you get this thread a thousand times a day, but I figured I'd try anyway.

I'm looking for a book similar to pic related. Not a flashback necessarily, but the Hambry setting in general.

I read the Dark Tower series last summer and Wizard and Glass is still my favorite.

Thanks in advance.

Also, any thoughts on the newest installment? Something about a keyhole right?

/lit/, I am in love.
Halfway through this book, reading the story of Susan, and I don't know if I want to continue, knowing that it will end in tragedy and heartbreak...
and knowing that its ending will have an impact on me as big as some real world events - that's how much I'm tied up in the story.
The chapters play through my head like scenes from a movie, and it makes me feel like a book never has. The experience is so real, it's just like actually being in love. I spent an entire day high off this book. The kissing scene /aroused/ me - and that's something books never do.
I have to say I never thought much of Stephen King's work before reading these. I've read some, including the Bachman books, and it all seemed good, but not amazing. I guess I thought such a popular author could never produce anything much better than mediocre.

And I see it's not on your recommended reading list. What does /lit/ think of the Dark Tower series? Was anyone else so deeply moved by this chapter?

Just finished Wizard and Glass. I thought it was phenomenal, but it's typically everyone's favorite. At least people I've talked to. I thought The Drawing of the Three was better though. Why is this considered the best?

This is the best of the DT series.
