Are we over connected?

Life isn't what it used to be.

I left the religion I was raised in around two years ago, and have since then been struggling with accepting my new situation and the knowledge that there are billions who still believe in the same religion out there.

I feel that I need to learn more about the religion to be able to justify my decision to those who still believe. Deep inside I know how any of them would think if they knew that I don't believe anymore: That I wasn't a believer in the first place (or else, if I was a true believer I wouldn't have left the religion); I was a true believer.

Today I decided that in 2013 I should stop obsessing over this. I will exert self control not to care about religion anymore.

Agh, so have you gone through this experience /lit/? I am not interested in the God question itself, just your experiences.

Also, which works of literature approach what I am going through?
