V.
My first Pynchon book and it's very good so far. I wasn't expecting it to be historical fiction. She Hangs on the Western Wall is my favorite chapter so far.

Jealous of that mug.

The book cover or the book itself?

I don't remember much about the story of that one, but I did like the design of the rockets and space stations.

I think the greatest piece of writing is Pynchon's Chapter 4 in V., "In Which Esther Gets a Nose Job". No other piece of writing has made me feel the way this chapter did. It made me feel giddy, warm, and tingly all over. It put me to sleep the way a bottle of warm milk makes a baby drowsy with pleasure. This is what I like best about Pynchon. He can describe anything in a way that is pleasurable for the reader. This is one of the reason's Mason and Dixon is so good. Pynchon makes anything interesting. I think the closest comparison I have to the feeling I got when reading Chapter 4, was the section that details Eschaton in Infinite Jest. Plus I felt alot of pity for the kid who got his head stuck in a computer.

What does it for you?

What exactly is happening in chapter nine with the flashbacks/dreams? Who's perspective are they from?

Just finished reading this today. Anybody want to have a discussion on it? Some parts were pretty confusing for me, but most of it was entertaining and I thought it was incredibly well written for a debut novel.

I found the parts with the Whole Sick Crew very amusing. My favorite part of the novel was probably Profane with the underground alligator hunters. The plastic surgery scene sticks out as well.

What did you like/dislike about the novel? What did you think of the structure and the historical tangents?

So /lit/, I just got this book as a gift. Is it any good? I have a bunch of other books I intend to read, but my girlfriend claims that I'll like this one best.

Let's talk about V.
The book, the woman.

Lets go.

So, who was this woman?

Who, and what was V?
Why was it important?
Besides Stencil chasing after her, why was she so important?
She was just someone who appeared, allegedly. What the hell of Vheissu? Besides some random city in the arctic or something.

I don't understand.
what was the relevance of any of it?

Ugh...so...are those kids really doing that to that lady?

I mean, seriously. Are they actually taking her apart?
