Anyone else find that older literature anthologies are better than contemporary ones? It seems like up to the 50s or 60s anthologists were happy to present the most popular or influential writers and poets, and afterwards there was an increasing trend to be subversive and select random writers nobody cares about. The more recent and more American you get, you also get the intrusion of "BIPOC voices" i.e. picking no-name black writers regardless of quality of influence (always on subjects fetishized by white female publishers).
