Not everyone got the same chances!
vs
Everyone can make it nowadays!
>Not everyone got the same chances
Why is that?
Why are some people treated worse because of their name? Why don't they have money?
Because they belong to a group that's more likely to be bad. Now that's partially of genetics but also because of a bad chain reaction of events, downward spirals, loops etc. At a certain point, people who could provide opportunities don't care WHY something is more likely to be bad but IF it is more likely to be bad.
And that sucks for the individual, or even for a newer redeemed version of that individual. Is that fixable? Not really, fixing that would include paying the price of letting the total group ruin something as well.
Also, in the reaction of wanting to help and fix that, you don't seem to consider, that at a certain level of analysis everyone is competing against each other.
>Everyone can make it nowadays
Certain opportunities are greater, easy access to information, less discrimination, better quality of life. But for you to end up in a position of having a career, of being hard working and smart, you are again relying at forces outside of your control - and that is not to understate your sacrifice and efforts. But people vary in personality and intelligence. A raw disconnected decision of just doing it doesn't exist, it's always relying on something. You can take the fascist road of saying that weak people shouldn't exist then, but you don't have the right to claim true self earned superiority
