Can somebody please explain this Beckett quote to me:

> All of old. Nothing else ever. Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better.

I think I get the "No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better." part, but what does "Ever tried. Ever failed." mean? is it like "I have always tried and always failed"?

The true fan reads More Pricks Than Kicks, and compares it, in his mind, with Dubliners.

What does /lit think of Beckett? I'm studying his theatre, which is incredible and I love, but the Molloy, Malone Dies, the Unnamable trilogy is meant to be sublime.

Hey /lit/, I've often found myself unable to appreciate (or, more generally, enjoy) a great deal of authors whose talents I greatly respect, Beckett being the artist of note. Do any of the members of /lit/ share this sentiment?
Pic sadly related

Hai /lit/ i'm kinda new to this board but whatever

i'm going to study english literature at one of the best Universitys in England, and to be honest, i'm a bit of a dark horse, everyone at the Uni i'm going to are pretentious pricks, absolute fucking dickheads who look down on anyone and anything they can.

on the interview day they asked me about my reading tastes, and unlike everyone else in the room who just said thei's and then let the next person say theirs, they had to single me out and begin to question me on Waiting for Godot (i was in the production as Vladimir) and they basically came back at any of the points i made about literature with "you're working class what do you know?"

the reading list is pretty same same really, as this is the first year they get everyone up to the same level in order to start the real work, Shakespeare, Euripides, ect.

So anyways, anyone got any tips on how to avoid this fucking hell?

it's ful of cunts who think they're better than me, are alot richer than me, won't want to socialise with me but who, in the end i am alot more intelligent than.

wat do /lit/
wat do.
And if you want we can have a Samuel Beckett general.

he was a bit of a cunt later on i think.
