"The ideal of the creator" is not someone who only produces and never consumes. The distinction would be rather between eg. the person who creates art in order to make profit and live a comfortable living vs the person who wants a comfortable living in order to create art. The point being that engaging in productive activities that culturally enliven society can never be driven by a mere desire to security and sufficiency.
