I've been intrigued to read that since I came across pic related, a 'review' of Teresa's works by an unlikely admirer, a 19th century Scottish Protestant minister, Rev. Whyte.

Is there an English-language edition you would recommend?

I've attached a very interesting "review" of Teresa of Avila's major works by a 19th century Scottish Protestant, Whyte -- an unlikely admirer, but an admirer nonetheless.

Whyte's remarks has inspired me to read St. Teresa's Letters and Foundations, which really hadn't been on my radar.

I would also recommend to you Sr. Faustina's Divine Mercy in My Soul, and Therese of Lisieux's Story of a Soul. Both are truly inspired and inspiring. Quite different in tone and style from Augustine, yet what the authors have in common is a remarkable gift for conveying in a clear and illuminating way the subtleties and nuances of the spiritual life -- indeed, the *reality* of that side of life.
