within the last 20 years more scientists have started researching myelin which is a sheathe of tissue around your nerves. they used to think it was only important in researching alzheimers, but now they know that the more you try something difficult that is just barely within your ability, the more myelin your brain builds in such a way that you become better at thinking or doing something. therefore it's good to always be reading books you barely understand instead of trying to go easy mode.
