Man, this ended up being excellent. Thanks to the anon who rec'd it a few threads back.
The story is about 14th century France, during the black plague and a religious quest. I could make a great movie.
The angels and the devils were great. The chemistry between the main characters was probably the best I've read in a while. I wished it could've gone on for 200 or 300 pages longer. The loli's character was a great touch.
I didn't like a few things though. The way he styled "thoughts" or inner monologues without reference and just plain italics could've appeared more often and not too evidently a stroke of style. I think he was a little shy in describing medieval life and stayed too close to what's known historically. A bit more descriptiveness could've added more to the story, and made it slightly less generic, but still, the setting's atmosphere felt quite authentic.
If it wasn't for the ending it would've been another grimdark book with a nice party, smaller scale scenes and a few cool monsters, but it was superbly satisfying.
