Sartre is a bit ugly but he doesn't have bad physiognomy. It's mostly the eye that makes him ugly anyway.

Why do midwits seethe so much at him? Is it just impotent rage because he was both a popular left-wing intellectual and womaniser?

What I thought Sartre believed before actually reading him:
>"Nothing is something! Nothing is true! There is no right or wrong! If you disagree, you're wrong! Stop acting in bad-faith and admit that I'm right! This waiter is a fraud! Hitler was bad! Please fuck my girlfriend!"
Then I read "The Existence of Others" in "Being and Nothingness" and realized he was implicitly (if unconsciously) anti-trans. His philosophy is a lot better in bits and pieces than as a coherent system, which is of course the opposite of what they'll tell you. There's actually something really great about cozying up with one of his books and strong coffee.

"[Anti-Semites] like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert."
