Can you guys recommend me some single-volume fantasy that's good?

I started reading Malazan last year and enjoyed it enough to read the series. But I'm on the final book now and honestly am completely lost and tired of it. Pretty much all the characters from the first half or dead or forgotten and the final book jumps around so much I don't even care anymore. I don't think I could handle another long series any time soon.
