Until this point we had no idea how the Magnesium had been destroyed so quickly, there was no footage left on the black box, and no crew left alive. Now. With the entirety of human colonized space watching on the highest resolution satellites we had ever devised, we saw exactly how out classed we were.
They fell out of FTL a lot faster than our ships could, giving them the eerie appearance of a phantom materializing in space, as our ships fell out of the subspace channel we used to travel (we learned later they used a sodium ion drive to accelerate the materialization process and that they managed their travel in subspace which was much more efficient than our FTL at the time) as our ships were materializing they opened fire, and humanity got its first look at just how god like the power of these being was. They managed electricity like nothing we had ever seen before, giant whips of electrical energy cascaded out of their ship towards our three vessels, none of them survived, billions of watts of electrical power surged through each of them as they entered the system and what parts of them didn’t melt completely, were destroyed in the ensuing explosion of their reactor cores.

They traveled deeper into our space; by this point every human satellite was tracking their ship as it flew towards the furthest outreaching colonies. By this time the Prime minister had put together a peace convoy to meet them, he sent three of humanity’s largest mining vessels loaded down with every conceivable amenity and material humanity could scrape together. The official mission statement was to “contact these aliens and make peace by any means necessary.” He had even authorized the trading of colonized worlds for peace if need be.
