Define dark skinned. If you're a white american my skin is probabily darker than yours. I'm not pale nor black my skintone must be closer to what you'd call "redbone". My lips are thick, my hair straight- wavy. Still most people here would call me white.

Race is a complicated thing in Brazil. Most authors you gringos are claiming to be black are considered white around here.
