post2015 /lit/ turned to complete shit. 4chan as a whole got turned upside down by /pol/newfags, reddit refugees and election tourists. For some reason they viewed /lit/ as some kind of intellectual epicentre of 4chan that must be conquered, so we got brigaded and overrun by newfags that don't actually read books. They chased away all the humanities students that actually read books and replaced them with anti-intellectualist teenagers with severe interpersonal problems.

moot wanted to shut down 4chin, but the senior mods wanted to take money from "alt-right"/"culture wars" pudits, pod-casters, influencers etc to let their approved content slide through the moderation team and ban/delete non "alt-right" threads and posts.
It was the first time the mods ever had the opportunity to make money from 4chan, after years of working for free, so moot felt bad about shutting it down, especially as he was going to work for google for serious $$$.

nope. /lit/ became terminal after the invasion of reddit refugees and /pol/ in 2015. They viewed /lit/ as some kind of intellectual epicentre of 4chan (lmao) so felt obligated to brigade and "conquer" it. they scurred away the anons who actually read literature. They're not coming back. The mod is a colossal faggot for letting this happen and was probably paid.
