I was reading sci-fi fantasy encyclopedia of some sort when I found this entry about an Albanian author who wrote a sort Gulliver's Travels kind of story, but under water. It described all sorts of weird creatures and a little civilization. Transparent female creatures...

Love both of the books mentioned, Johnathan Strange and Mr Norrel is brilliant, I love her depiction of fairy society mixing with the European aristocrats. As for Coming Up for Air, it's for me, probably the most powerful of Orwell's novels. The sense of inevitability, of simply waiting is terrifying. The image of (to paraphrase) "spanners hitting faces forever" has stuck with me since I first read it.

As for me, messing about with this.
