What surrealist books would you recommend, /lit/? I haven't read any surreal title besides The metamorphosis, so I'd like to read some more.

is kafka worth reading? the metamorphosis, the trial, and the castle seem like high school tier literature... the superficial "bureaucracy bad free thinking good"

Is it just me or do his books seem devoid of tone? I'm 5 chapters into The Trial and I feel the tone of every scene and dialogue is meaningless and deprived of feeling.

I want to read Kafka untranslated but my German is so bad it takes me an hour to read a page of Kafka.
