Well, if these happenings are presented as a novel', i'm sure they would be kino but stating them as just facts is boring. I don't read history so i don't spoil Historic movies for myslef.

Just read academic texts and write. You can easily educate yourself up to undergraduate standard without going to university. Anything beyond that is specialised academic research which you don't need unless you want to actually contribute to the field.

The main thing you miss on not going to university (not to downplay it, because it is important) is engaging with peers and mentors who are into the subject and the discussion and immersion that can come with it. But you don't have to meet people in a university setting.

I think the worst thing about not going to university and instead self-educating is making time for it. As a student you have years to engage with your subject with little to no responsibility, while if you're from a poor background you're probably going to be working full time which saps a lot of time and energy.

Not entirely related, but how do you find people who are interested in things beyond pop culture? I don't care too much, but it would be nice to find people in real life to talk about things beyond the latest blockbuster ect
