Now I understand the "fantasy is shit and not real literature" meme. I've always loved fantasy but I only read the obvious popular and really good books (Botns(inb4 it's not fantasy), tolkien, dune(inb4 it's not fantasy number 2) the obvious masters of the trade). But nowadays I find myself in need for new books and series so I started a bunch of things that aren't shilled often, mostly modern authors and books, you know, sanderson (but hey, I enjoyed the first Mistborn book), rothfuss, .... And good lord. The writing in almost each of these books is actually, legit shit. No, I'm not joking, my fucking Avatar fanfic has better prose and dialogue than this. Good god.
The only relatively newer stuff that I somewhat enjoyed was Prince of Nothing, but that's only because I like ranty philosophical fantasy and sf.

Anyway, the point of this rant is, can someone recommend me newer fantasy books (can be sf as well, but I do prefer fantasy) that are mostly well written? For me prose and dialogue is very important. The setting comes a close second, and plot isn't really important in the grand scheme of things.
