This exactly. The shitty "GraphicAudio" audio books makes the pacing so fucking blatant because they change the god dammed canned music to try to set the mood. Oh this is the exciting time, this is the heartfelt time, this is the goofy time. It all runs like clockwork and the story was set down by someone who decided what the formula for a good book was and fleshed out the key plot movements and had some shitty team of ghost writers fill in the blanks like he drew the key frames and had crappy animators just fill in the fluff. Cant go more than x many pages without conflict, must show soft side of character with fill in the blank science here. And once you notice it you cant not notice it and I cant fucking stand it.

Orson Scott Cards later books have a similar formulaic feel.

Nothing feels organic, nothing feels genuine. It's just so uninspiring.
