The average person is unironically too low IQ to read the Bible. All the amount of parables, allegories, metaphors, and allusions are literally too high-brow for most Christians to comprehend the actual meanings within the scripture.

They did in the past. The Bible is essentially a spiritual self-help book, and church is basically a seminar. American kids stopped having read the Bible in class after the 1960s when the US Supreme Court rulings killed it. Fuck, the 60s really did permanently ruin this country, didn't they?

Why are Christians so dumb? When you say that the Bible is metaphor you're obviously not talking about stuff like Proverbs. It's referring to the story of Jesus, the story of the Hebrews, the story of Jonah etc. When Herod had all boys 2 years old or under killed, when Jesus, Mary and Joseph rode a donkey into Egypt, when the Hebrews crossed the Red Sea, when John the Baptist was beheaded and his head brought on a plate, stuff like that is metaphor. Anything that reads like a historical account.

When I try to discuss with retards who think the Bible is meant to be taken literally I often get the impression they don't understand what literally and metaphorically mean.

Where do I find a copy of the Bible with no annoying study shit and retarded opinions/interpretations.
