I'm right there with you OP. I worry about "the hustle" to the point it's useful to me (having a stable job) but it is entirely secondary, and what I really want to do is drop off modern society, learn practical skills, build a homestead, start a big family, and live the most gratifying and meaningful life I can. It is very hard, there's a strong sense of alienation from people because they don't see a purpose in much outside of pursuing their careers. People don't see value in real struggle; they simply don't seek it out.
I hung out with some of my coworkers last night and all they had to talk about was how much they hate their job and getting drunk/stoned. I want to show people there is a better way to think and act in life, but it either falls on deaf ears or is dismissed as "lol anon you're so weird" like BITCH, what is so weird about pursuing a genuine purpose in a sea of meaningless accumulation of material garbage? I get it, you bought a Switch and you're on the fence about buying your fourth cat. But what does any of that bullshit really mean to you?
It's just frustrating man. Play the game insofar as it serves some greater purpose. I'm a lot happier acknowledging it as a means to an end, and knowing one day I can leave this shitty place and create my own beautiful world.
