I did a lot of vocabulary building exercises every day when I was a child to prepare for the SAT and other standardized tests where I live. Looking back it wasn't worth it even though I tested extremely highly. I would've benefited more from reading from broader spectra of knowledge, worldview, and culture. Perhaps it would've been even better for me if I focused more on developing social skills and emotional intelligence.

There was an anon here last year who made a great series of threads on education theory. Pic rel is his reading chart. I recommend starting with The Educated Mind by Kieran Egan - presents a great theory of education, but also does a thorough job presenting the 3 broad traditions of educational philosophy.

Here it is. I started by categorizing everything but there was too much, I'd get overwhelming. Hopefully somebody finds some use out of this - these titles are by and large criminally under-read
