Dawkins book (arguably the second worst book arguing for the atheist world view) and New Atheism will lead to the same problems albeit atheism can produce worse results because hasnt yet developed a strong literary and societal tradition. The roots are there but its going to be at least a century before atheism starts to catch up.

Not to the point of absurdity, most peoples beliefs in either directions are infantile or simplistic just because its such an extremely complex and difficult matter. Unpacking Aquinas and then getting onto understanding the legitimate criticisms about him is for instance a very long and time consuming affair. All of which is more complicated as people have emotional investments in the answer going a specific way.

Pic related LARPers are a big issue however I think another big issue is that because athiesm is no longer countercultral that one sided critical thinking that initially triggered the athiest movement is now being turned against it.

It also helps that Christianity is a much nicer lifestyle and has a greater wealth of literature and art behind it
