Not really. I think you have a distorted view of intellectual activity, but one that's very common on /lit/.

What will happen is that you'll race through your reading of different thinkers in order to become your ideal image of a Mystic Psychologist, and you won't pay attention to the specifics of the ideas and arguments themselves, to the low-level interesting connections and tiny sparks of inspiration that people like Jung pursue for their own sake. You'll just end up with a vague, uninspiring mishmash of abstract ideas, each indicating some lofty notion or image of absolute knowledge but nothing actually achieving anything particular interesting or unique or original.

The people who dedicate themselves to researching Chinese peasant kinship customs, or German Romanticism's relationship to the Prussian mining industry, or whatever -- they will always end up with a more subtle and rich and original view of human life than you would by fixating on the end goal of some unattainable total system.
