Seneca was hardly hit, he suffered from asthma his entire life. One of his better moments was when he was discussing how patricians would throw overly lavish dinner parties everyday, would spend and consume ridiculous amounts of money, food, etc, and how explained their faults was brilliant. Another interesting topic he wrote about was the treatment of slaves, yet his work on death is paramount. Read Seneca for his philosophy on death. Read his other works, and you will hear the voice of a hypocrite
