Literature isn't about your self-esteem, fuckface. You obviously don't understand the point of literature, or intelligence, for that matter.

You're basically the equivalent of a lazy jock: you want to work out to show your muscles, but you're too weak and lazy to actually work out, so, instead, you read for the same reason. It's easier for you because actual culture and intelligence don't show as easily so you can lie, to others and yourself, that you're smart and accumulating wisdom, knowledge, etc, whereas all you're accumulating is a conceited and complacent ego.

i used to come here to talk about books. about my thoughts, protestations, the emotions conjured and conclusions sought but oftentimes never provided by the authors themselves. the ideas that were sparked and philosophies that would eventually become an integral aspect of my daily life.

now when i want a book to read, i'm more apt to turn to our local hobo for advice. his hobbies are a) standing, inert, at the center of the mcdonalds parking lot, and b) digging through ashtrays for cigarette butts to eat. he's into heavy existentialist works and probably thinks you're a pleb.

not a single person who reads this will sympathize with my plight. almost every one of you who responds will have something witty and condescending to say, and in the process will incriminate yourself as a complete and utter cunt, the type of people who have toiled so diligently to make this board utterly inhospitable for sane, approachable human beings. for, as is the nature of /lit/, it's not necessarily about what you like; it's about making sure everyone else knows that you like what you like.
