Greekfags and classicalfags, help an anon out. I've researched this already but I couldn't find a satisfactory answer.

Is it better to learn Modern Greek, and then Ancient Greek? Or should I learn just Ancient Greek, and not bother with Modern Greek? I want to read the works of Plato and other great philosophers, but it still feels like a waste of time to learn a language as hard as Greek and not be able to converse with anyone because I only learned the dead variation.

And in regards to pronunciation: Most schools and books teach the classical/ancient pronunciation of Greek. Is there any point in that, considering no one speaks Ancient Greek anymore? Isn't it better to just learn the modern pronunciation, since at least you can understand some spoken Greek? Or is there a reason to learn the classical pronunciation?

So Kant, then Schopenhauer, then Nietzsche, and Wittgenstein. Who puts anything forward after Wittgenstein?
